About the A's

Since 2005, the Ann Arbor A's have worked toward becoming the premier travel baseball program in Washtenaw County and southeast Michigan. With a strong emphasis on fundamentals and proper training, the A's have enjoyed tremendous success since the original team took the field.

The program has grown to include nearly 200 ballplayers from across southeast Michigan, comprising 10+ teams between the 8U and 14U divisions. The A's compete in the Kensington Valley Baseball and Softball Association (KVBSA) as well as local and national tournaments, and recent seasons have been anchored by our brand-new state-of-the-art training facility, South State Sports, located in Saline — a 10,000 sq ft facility dedicated to maximizing player development physically and mentally.

Tryouts are typically held in late July through early August, with winter workouts beginning at South State Sports in December or January.

Our philosophy

The A's philosophy is to focus on playing baseball the right way and developing the fundamentals of each and every player in the organization. Each coach strives to instill the following principles:

  • Play hard — give 100% effort on and off the field.
  • Teach the fundamentals of fielding, hitting, throwing, and base running.
  • Respect the game of baseball.
  • Good sportsmanship — respect coaches, umpires, players, and parents; win and lose graciously.
  • Be coachable — receive constructive feedback and work to improve technique.
  • Have fun playing the great game of baseball.

By implementing these principles, the A's build strong teams, a strong organization, and — most importantly — strong young people.
