About Us

Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the Ann Arbor A’s were founded in 2005, with a commitment to teaching and playing competitive youth baseball.  Since that original team, the A’s organization has grown to field 16 teams in the 2018-2019 season from ages 8U to 15U.  The A’s participate in the Kensington Valley Baseball and Softball Association, playing 18-20 league games from mid-April through July.  Teams also participate in several local and national tournaments.  Tryouts for each upcoming season take place in early to mid-August.  Winter workouts begin in December or January, with practices being held at Advantage Sports and Oosterbaan Fieldhouse.

The A’s philosophy is to focus on playing baseball the right way and develop the fundamentals of each and every player in the organization.  Each coach strives to instill the following principles with their players:

  1. Play hard – Give 100% effort on and off the field.
  2. Teach the fundamentals of fielding, hitting, throwing, and base running.
  3. Respect the game of baseball
  4. Good sportsmanship – respect coaches, umpires, players, and parents – win and lose graciously.
  5. Be coachable – receive constructive feedback from coaches and work to improve technique.
  6. Have fun playing the great game of baseball!

Implementing these philosophies has help to build strong A’s teams, a strong organization, and, most importantly, strong young men.
