14U Zavala

Baseball has been one of my favorite hobbies throughout my life. I have lived in Mexico, Cuba, and the U.S., and in these three countries, baseball is an important part of the culture. When I was a kid, living in Mexico, I played in Little Leagues and on my neighborhood streets. It was the late 80s, the time of "Fernandomania," so I was rooting for the Dodgers and Fernando Valenzuela.

My two kids started playing Little League baseball in Michigan in 2021.  In 2023, there was a need for volunteer coaches, and I stepped in. Since then, I have been coaching baseball, in addition to basketball and soccer; I believe in the multisport philosophy! I coach this A's team along with Coach John Batteh. Our current mission as coaches is to create a competitive, low-pressure, and fun environment for our team's athletes and to prepare them for high school baseball!

Zavala A's 14u team started practices in August, and we are excited to play some games on Sundays in October. We will be playing in the Spring at the Legacy, Perfect Game, and FAAST tournaments. We have a great group of disciplined kids who love to play baseball, and we feel honored to coach them.
